ATL · ANTI-TORQUE LAMELLAE

Counteracting torque with adjustable aerodynamic surfaces.

ATL is a modular anti-torque system developed by Virus PPG. Individual aerodynamic lamellae are mounted to the paramotor safety net, where their airflow creates a force opposing propeller torque. The system is tuned to the actual machine by selecting the correct rotation version and adjusting the number and position of its elements.

Aerodynamic counterforce

The lamellae use propeller airflow to generate a force in the opposite direction to the torque effect, helping reduce unwanted roll input.

Independent from the frame

ATL is fitted to the protective net and does not participate in the structural construction of the paramotor.

Modular adjustment

Compensation can be refined by adding, removing or repositioning individual lamellae for the machine and its most-used power range.

Correct rotation version

Dedicated versions are selected according to clockwise or counter-clockwise propeller rotation.

Broad compatibility

The original ATL concept was designed for installation on more than 90% of paramotors, with ATL Uni intended for non-standard safety-net geometries.

Machine-specific tuning

Final placement depends on the engine, propeller, thrust line, cage, safety net and available clearance. Controlled test flights complete the adjustment.

The original ATL documentation provides a starting point. It is not a universal configuration for every paramotor.

Mounting
On the paramotor safety net; ATL Uni is available when the net differs from the standard 90 × 50 mm geometry.
Version selection
According to propeller rotation: clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Typical starting configuration
12–14 lamellae for a typical 25 HP engine with a 125–130 cm propeller, according to the original guide.
Positioning
As far as practicable from the centre of thrust while preserving safe clearance to the propeller.
Reference axial clearance
50–60 mm between the lamellae and propeller in the original installation guidance.
Final adjustment
Add or remove elements and validate the result during controlled test flights in the most frequently used power range.

Safety note: the figures above reproduce the original ATL guidance. The final number, location and clearance depend on the exact paramotor. Installation and flight testing must be carried out by a competent person. Re-tension the safety net and verify all propeller clearances before every flight.
